HAGI NO LONGER ON CELTIC SHORTLIST

Ex-Barcelona attacking midfielder Gheorghe Hagidoes not feature again on the managerial shortlist at dethroned Scottish Premiership champions Celtic. Celtic are looking for a new permanent manager after Neil Lennon walked out of the club earlier this year.

Gheorghe Hagi was linked with the Celtic job while Lennon was still the manager as per the report from playsport.ro in his native Romania earlier this year. It was revealed that Celtic want Gheorghe Hagi to replace former player Lennon should the club decide to replace him as the manager. In the end, Lennon resigned from his position as manager.

Latest reports from various British media portals claimed that Eddie Howe is the overwhelming favourites to be the next Celtic manager as Hagi didn’t feature again on the managerial shortlist.

Howe has been without a job since he failed to save Bournemouth from relegation at the end of last season. The Cherries were relegated on the final day of the season despite beating Everton away from home. The young manager wasresponsible for taking Bournemouth to the Premier League and he kept them in the division for several seasons before the demotion to the English Championship at the end of the last campaign.

Celtic are targeting a manager that would wrestle the title from Old Firm rivals Rangers after they were stopped from winning the title for a tenth successive season. Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is the man of the moment in Scottish football after leading the club to the league title.

Apart from Howe, the likes of Roy Keane, Frank Lampard and David Wagner have all been linked with the Celtic managerial job.
